Summer 2024

Knesset Israel is offering a full range of programming this summer, indoors, outdoors and online. We look forward to welcoming old friends and new faces.

Highlights this summer include:

Services & Meals

In-Person services every weekend - Friday night, Saturday morning, Sunday morning, plus Tisha B'av and Selihot. Most services will be in the sanctuary, and Friday nights and Saturday mornings will be livestreamed

A Kiddush luncheon every Shabbat from July 6 through August 24. Sponsorship opportunities are available, and contributions are always welcome. Some shabbat luncheons will be followed by a speaker, a study session, or board games.

Communal Shabbat Dinners after Kabbalat Shabbat services - June 7 (after Shabbat Across the Berkshires), July 12, August 9. Dinner requires advance registration.

Cultural & Social Programs

The Berkshire Jewish Film Festival - fascinating films - every Monday afternoon & evening from July 8 to August 12. 

A Klezmer Concert on Monday night, August 19. Click for more information and to register.

Ramblin' with the Rav - Hikes of varying difficulty led by Rabbi Weiner - exercise, community, and a little Torah in the glorious Berkshires. Some Wednesdays, some Sundays. Click for more information and to register.

Adult Education
JTS in the Berkshires - Top-notch scholars from the Jewish Theological Seminary deliver classes on Friday mornings at the Bernstein Theater at Shakespeare & Co. in Lenox, 11am. This year: JTS Chancellor Shuly Rubin Schwartz on July 12th, Professor Sarah Wolf on August 9th, and Professor Yitz Landes August 23rd!

Book Talks for two different books. July 10th on Cold Crematorium: The "Lost" Holocaust Masterpiece written by journalist, poet and survivor Jozsef Debreczeni and presented by his nephew Alex Bruner. July 18th Ambassador Stuart Eizenstat will present on his new book The Art of Diplomacy: How American Negotiators Reached Historic Agreements that Changed the World

Lunch & Learn after kiddush on select Saturday afternoons. July 20th with Rabbi Becca Walker and also learn with visiting scholars Dr. Justin Cammy on August 3rd who will teach on The Worlds of Yiddish, and Dr Larry Fine on August 17th for his talk Friendship & The Interpersonal in Jewish Mystical Tradition.
