Melodies

Knesset Israel services emphasize congregational participation and leadership. No two services at K.I. are identical.

?K.I. offers weekday minyan on Sunday mornings, most Sunday and Tuesday evenings and on Monday evenings in the summer outside the Berkshire Jewish Film Festival. We join in traditional egalitarian Shabbat services every Saturday morning at 9:30, and almost every Friday night at 5:45. Our Shirei Shabbat Friday night services, accompanied by musical instrumentation and followed by a volunteer-prepared dinner, take place about ten times a year. From Labor Day to Passover, we gather for an intimate afternoon service, study and havdala on Saturday afternoons. Please consult our calendar for an up-to-date schedule, including services for festivals and special occasions.

?Shabbat morning is the focal point of congregational life. Anchored by our participatory sanctuary service, programming often includes Hebrew School classes, Junior Congregation and opportunities for adult study. Kiddush after services is a great way to meet new people and connect with the community.

The melodies used during services reflect the musical heritage of the congregation, as well as the diversity of shlihei tzibbur, the individuals who lead the congregation in prayer. Many people who are learning service leadership or other synagogue skills find audio files helpful.
