Top-notch scholars from the Jewish Theological Seminary present on timely topics. Sponsored by Knesset Israel and the Jewish Theological Seminary. Supported by a generous gift from the Harold Grinspoon Foundation and a cosponsorship grant from the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires.

Two sessions in 2022 as we bring this popular program back! Preregistration is encouraged - click here to be redirected to the registration page. $15/person. Held at the Elayne Bernstein Theater at Shakespeare & Co., 70 Kemble St., Lenox.

July 29 - Dr. Marjorie Lehman, "Get Thee to a Nunnery: Shakespeare and the Talmudic Rabbis in Conversation"

How can Hamlet's words to Ophelia help us think about the rabbi's use of the term 'zonah' (harlot)? We will explore which women the rabbis considered to be "harlots" and how the legal framework the rabbis developed relates to anxiety about the integrity of the rabbinic household and the Jewish community in a post-Temple era.

August 12 - Rabbi Ayelet Cohen, "Spiritual Leadership for a New Era"

The Pearl Resnick Dean of the Rabbinical School at the Jewish Theological Seminary asks: What kinds of challenges and opportunities confront religious leaders today? Through an exploration of rabbinic, liturgical, and contemporary poetic texts, JTS' newly appointed Dean of the Rabbinical School and Division of Religious Leadership will share her vision for the future.
