Jacob's Torah: A Dramatic Reading

Sunday, June 8, 2025 12 Sivan 5785

2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

The odyssey of a mystical Torah and the people who loved and protected it, "Jacob's Torah" is a dramatic reading of how a Torah was rescued the night before Kristallnacht, how it journeyed to the U.S., and was dedicated 50 years later for the use of students at a Hebrew Day school. Written by the late Jesse Waldinger and directed by Barbara Waldinger, the play was inspired by a family story of Berkshire County resident (and KI member), Phil Halpern. Suggested donation of $18 for members of KI, TAA, and OLLI if pre-registered; $20 for all at the door. The reading will be followed by a short epilogue and refreshments. Co-sponsored by Knesset Israel, Temple Anshe Amunim, and OLLI. Program takes place at Knesset Israel, 16 Colt Road, Pittsfield. REGISTRATION IS CLOSED AS OF 8:30 AM Sunday, June 8. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
