Celebrating Purim

Rejoice, it's Adar! Purim 5780 (March 9) at Knesset Israel promises to be among the highlights of the year for all generations of Knesset Israel and their friends. A series of events that week will celebrate this festive (and delicious) holiday.

Every year volunteers of all ages bake thousands of hamantashen, share them with friends and family, deliver them to homebound seniors and in the process, raise thousands of dollars for the K.I. congregation. If you are interested in ordering these delicious homemade hamantashen, please contact the Knesset Israel office (Diana, 413-445-4872 x10) to receive an order form. You may also order by the dozen. Choices are apricot, raspberry, poppy seed and prune-all delicious-by emailing Cindy Helitzer, Many volunteers are needed to help with baking, packing, delivering and coordinating details for this great project! If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to Cindy Helitzer. If you would like to volunteer to help deliver hamantashen to seniors who are homebound or live in retirement communities, please contact the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires, (413) 442-4360.

Purim Dinner, Service and Megillah Reading
On Monday, March 9, Knesset Israel and Temple Anshe Amunim come together at Knesset Israel for this ridiculously fun annual tradition. Dinner (free of charge) is at 5:30 p.m. Please RSVP through or by calling (413) 445-4872. Maariv & Megillah Reading will be held at 6:15 p.m. Costumes are encouraged for all. Hamantashen and Ice Cream Dessert follow.

Purim Concert
Our annual Purim concert will be held on Saturday, March 7 at 7:30 at Knesset Israel. Enjoy the stylings of the Knesset Israel Purim band-a very talented, creative and fun group of musicians. This year celebrates British Rock. The evening is always a lot of fun, with clever lyrics that are irreverent, joyfully telling the Purim story in "musical costume." Be sure not to miss it. (A cover, payable at the door, applies.)
